Determination of Sodium Oxide in Alumina Powder (Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry)

1 Method Overview

The sample is heated and dissolved in a quartz beaker with mixed sulfuricphosphoric acid. Using an airacetylene flame, the absorbance of sodium oxide is measured at 589.0 nm on an atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Within a certain concentration range, the absorbance of sodium is proportional to its content, and quantification is carried out by comparison with the standard series.

2 Scope of Application

This method is applicable to the determination of sodium oxide content in alumina powder.

3 Reference Basis
