A500 Zeeman Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer Application Case—Determination of Lead Content in Nutrient Salts for Fermentation

As the core nutrient source for microbial growth (nitrogen source, phosphorus source, trace elements, etc.), nutrient salts for fermentation are widely used in food, health products, feed and biomedicine industries.

Lead is a highly accumulative toxic heavy metal that cannot be degraded by microorganisms. Without strict content determination, it can easily accumulate in end products through the food chain, posing potential safety risks.

In accordance with *GB 5009.12-2023 National Food Safety Standard: Determination of Lead in Foods*, the A500 Zeeman Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer was adopted in this study. By virtue of its excellent background correction capability and outstanding stability, method validation for the determination of lead content in nutrient salts for fermentation was carried out.

Reagents: Nitric acid, Ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, Palladium nitrate
