During the production of methanol, the monitoring and control of sodium content play a key role in ensuring product quality. As an easily ionized metal element, sodium, even present at trace levels in methanol, may exert significant adverse effects on its storage, transportation, subsequent processing, and final product performance.
For this purpose, a direct water dilution method is adopted for the pretreatment of methanol samples in this study. Sodium content is determined using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer equipped with Zeeman background correction at the secondary sensitive line of 330.2 nm, so as to ensure the accuracy of test results and meet the requirements of quality control.
