In modern industrial production, the stable operation of boiler and cooling water systems directly affects equipment safety, energy efficiency and service life. Monitoring iron content in water is a key procedure for water quality evaluation as well as corrosion and scaling prevention. Ferric ions may originate from pipeline corrosion, source water pollution or improper process treatment. Excessive accumulation of iron ions will reduce heat transfer efficiency, trigger localized corrosion and accelerate equipment deterioration. Therefore, accurate determination of iron content is of great significance for ensuring system safety and optimizing water quality management.
In accordance with GB/T 14427-2017 Analytical Methods for Boiler Water and Cooling Water — Determination of Iron, this study adopts the A500 Zeeman atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Relying on its superior background correction capability and excellent stability, method verification for the determination of iron element in boiler water and cooling water was carried out.
